Decorating using a striped fabric, wallpaper or wall finish will add perspective and chic to your home.
There are very many forms of stripe to look at including pinstripe, nautical, geometric and military. You can see from this that it is a design that will suit many settings and different environments.
The use of bands as decoration is very commonly seen in the art deco styling, in the classic black and white. Indigo design’s interior designers in Cambridgeshire, took this theme as a starting point for a fresh look at a rather dated bathroom. Having stripped the room back to bare bones we embarked on a subtle use of monochrome stripes in the tiling which covered all the walls. This was done by using white Italian glass tiles that were very large and then a pencil line in black at the bottom and midway. The effect was masculine and sharp.
To keep our theme of stripes and to add some colour we chose a very feint ticking material for the blinds that combined black white grey and a line of mustard . By picking this fabric we were able to give the room light and shade as well as introducing a new colour to the pallette.
Again we chose towels that complemented our concept. They were white with a navy and grey nautical stripe and were introduced the yellow by having a similar colour in the soaps and accessories around the room.
Use stripes where ever you feel lack of inspiration and I can guarantee success will follow in your design.
