When thinking about your bathroom, we will be very aware of the need to create a space of calm and restful harmony.
Indigo design, interior design firm in Cambridge, was asked to redesign a very large en suite in a Cambridgeshire residence. This bathroom was to be very luxurious with a walk in shower, body jets overhead rain water shower head, bath two sinks, storage space, and bidet.
The room overlooked the garden and the brief included using the view on both sides.
Although the room was large it was rather long and would easily become uninviting the architect had also divided the space into zones, divided by glass panels.
Indigo now had the task of bringing these spaces together in our concept for the bathroom.
We decided to use polished stone tiles all around to bring these separate areas together. The ceramic basins were white and we set them in an oak timber vanity unit. The drawers underneath were handle less to keep the look simple.
The large picture windows needed some kind of covering for the evening but we wanted to use the view in the day. Our solution was to have remotely operated lightweight duets blinds. These are very discrete and can hardly be seen when they are up but provide complete coverage when down.
The recessed lighting bounced very effectively off the polished stone walls giving the room a warm glow.
We had a bath mat especially made from natural fibres taking our theme from the stone and wood in the room already.
This room was elegant, sunny and welcoming a retreat from the stresses of the day.
